Doing Good Work

Practicing greater mindfulness in everyday life has had a profound effect on me.<...>

Initially though I struggled to reconcile the notion that I had to be present in the moment without:

Getting stuck trying to connect past dots and relating that to the present; or
jumping to making plans that could (would?) predict the future.

This was especially hard when I was wearing my hat as an entrepreneur, business owner and maker. I’ve built my life on learning from my past and being clever about what I’m doing next.

I ultimately settled on a very simple mantra (which I repeat to myself a couple of times a day) that has set me free from the constraints of my past or possible future.

Every day and with everything that I undertake, I just have four steps:

  1. Show up.
  2. Be present.
  3. Do the thing.
  4. Don’t worry too much about the outcome or future.

It’s simple. Give it a go. :)
