Too Much Inspiration

The hard part isn’t always to find inspiration or be inspired.

The harder part is to not be too inspired.

When we’re overly inspired, we run the risk of either moving too quickly and skipping past crucial milestones or opportunities to learn.

Or our end result is almost exactly the same as the source that inspired us, which means we’re not speaking or acting in our unique voice.

Every time I get a Seth Godin email, I am inspired to write like him. But that is probably not the best for me.

My inspiration should instead be to get better at writing like me and eventually inspire others to feel the same way about my writing that I do about Seth’s.

The easiest thing in the world right now is to "do more" or move faster. There is a lot of momentum in this regard and it's easy to just give into this relentless energy.⠀ ⠀ But this isn't always good for us. What makes sense for others or for society at all, doesn't necessarily serve us as well.⠀ ⠀ The much harder thing to do is to figure out your own path and pace *regardless* of what others are doing or saying. Similarly, focusing on "better" instead of "more" is a tough approach, but one that will likely serve you much better in the long-term.⠀ ⠀ Stand still. Be calm. For a moment, just be. Reconnect with who you are and what you up to achieve. Drown out all the noise and then make up your own mind.
