Rollercoaster

My natural instinct is to blog about "how life is a rollercoaster" or something silly like that (purely because the photo would compliment content like that), but that kinda content probably doesn't justify the photo much...

Instead I'd say that I've been experiencing a kind of rollercoaster effect in my working days. Work will be going well and my productivity would be right up there and then - at random - the drive to finish something or to move onto the next to do just vanishes completely in a very "bleh" moment.

Anybody else experience that kinda, sudden drop in motivation / productivity?

Beverly Hills Oasis

You can't spend 4 days in Los Angeles (Hollywood to be precise), without taking one of the city tours to see "all of the homes of the stars". What bullshit.

Jeanne & I took one of these trips and proceeded to waste 2 hours of our time seeing the driveaways of the supposed homes of the celebrities. Whoop.

On the trip though, this photo was the best moment and one I'd share here. I absolutely love the tranquility captured in the shot and makes me think back semi-fondly on a shitty tourbus trip... :)

Still Pure

Spent an amazing day in Riebeek Kasteel, which is a "boutique" little town out in the countryside, about a hour's drive away from home.

The cool thing about the day is that this isn't something I ever considered doing last year. Part of my new year's resolution was to explore my own country a little more and also to not be so lazy in not driving around and exploring. Especially on weekends. :)

So Jeanne & I spent an amazing day just relaxing in this little town, walking around and checking out random shops. I also had the most amazing burger I ever had at Bar Bar Black Sheep.

Bonus of the day: a bunch of cool photography opportunities. :)

Palazzo Photography

I'm weird as a photographer. Not arty, not expert and most definitely not abstract by any means. Yet, I absolutely love taking photos like this.

Having had the opportunity to travel quite a bit in 2011, I found myself walking the streets of cities that I was completely unfamiliar with. And then every now and again I'd see something like the photo above and just feel compelled to capture that moment.

In this photo, it's not about what's in the picture, but just about that very perspective and angle that I managed to capture. The reason that intrigues me, is that's the way I saw it and my challenge is generally to get your eyes & mind to experience the same thing I did in real-time.

Do you find yourself taking photos like these that don't make "traditional" sense?

The O.C.

Visiting Santa Monica on our last trip to the States was most definitely the highlight of the whole trip (contrary to the relative let down of Vegas).

We stayed in a sweet boutique hotel, right on the beach and Jeanne & I got to spend a blissful 3 days just chilling out, doing some random shopping and eating great food. Our kind of holiday to be precise.

The picture above is from the Santa Monica Pier, which made me feel like part of The O.C. (the TV show), as I could run into Ryan, Marissa, Seth or Summer at any time. I was a pretty big fan of the show back in the day okay. Don't judge me.
